Importance of Quality Media

October 11, 2020

I can't tell you how many times as a web-designers, we will spend hundreds of hours on design and user experience only to be provided horrible photos or low-quality videos that ultimately destroy all the hard work we just did. We can only do so much with Photoshop. We can't put makeup on bad photography work. We see bad lighting or poor framing most often. Let me be honest. This is the face of your business. People will decide to stay or leave your site within the first three seconds. The first impression DOES MATTER.

As with anything well made, you need to budget for the basics. Quality media is probably the most important tool that we use to tell your story and showcase your products and brand.

Two Examples

We have provided two photos as examples of what we are talking about. The bike on the right is a photo I grabbed off of my local Facebook Market Group Page and on the left a professional stock photo. As you can see, the Facebook photo has poor lighting/shadows and cars and other things in the background that distract from what they are trying to showcase. By the way, I'm not trying to mean to the person who took this photo. It's fine for the Facebook Marketplace but as you can see, it is not appropriate for a professional company to promote its products or brand.

The photo on the left focuses the eye on the bike and nothing else. The lighting is perfect and the aperture settings blur the background so that the bike is the main focus of the picture. No other distractions like cars in the background, weird shading, or poor photo quality. It makes a huge difference.

Example Photos

If a professional photographer or video company is not in your budget, we can help you find high-quality stock photos and videos with companies like Shutterstock. This is one way to save money and still get quality media.
Stock photos will not work if you need specialized photos of your location, products, or would like to tell your story via a short video. This will require a professional. Element Arthouse provides these services to ensure that your page looks beautiful and professional. Drones are a cost-effective way to bring high-quality cinematic aerial views to enhance your website even further.

In conclusion, planning for professional media services is an integral part of the development and design of any great website. Contact us anytime to discuss how we can enhance your brand or products with quality photo and video services.
